What’s El Mercat Medieval de Vic?

The Medieval Market in Vic is probably the most important medieval market of the country and takes place every year in the beginning of December in the small town of Vic. This year it will take place from Thursday the 6th to Sunday the 9th December. Hundreds of artisan stalls from all over Catalonia are distributed through the historical centre of the town and they sell a wide range of products, from the most traditional foods (such as embotits, cheese, marmalade, etc.) to artisan products (such as jewellery, clothes, glass objects, etc.).

During these public holidays, the streets in Vic are adorned with festive medieval decorations. Even the artisans and merchants are dressed in medieval costumes! You can attend all kinds of shows: theatrical and musical performances in the streets, an archery contest by the river, medieval fighting in the main square… You won’t have enough time to see everything! It will be the perfect opportunity to take a break from studying for you final exams and spend one day with your friends in this beautiful market!

How to get to Vic?

Vic is one of the most important towns in central Catalonia. It is one hour away from Barcelona. You can get there by train (Rodalies Renfe) for 6,30€ (each way). Remember that unlike Barcelona, Vic is in the centre of Catalonia, so the weather will be much more cold! If you want to know more about it, don’t hesitate to talk to our coordinator Bruna to ask for further information!
